Is Jesus God? Part 39: "Polytheism and the Trinity Concept"

Return to the previous - Part 38: "Unfulfilled Old Testament Prophecy – Messiah would destroy the Romans"
1 Corinthians 8:5 “For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords")”
1 Corinthians 8:6 “yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.”
These two verses suggest that there are other gods existing, but that ‘for us’ there is only one.
Islam rejects this idea that others exist at all, and that there is only one God in existence, and others are creations from the minds of men.
Isaiah 42:8 “I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images.”
Several important points in this verse: 1-God says that “LORD” is his name. He doesn’t say his name is Jesus. 2- He will not give his glory to any other. This contradicts John 8:54 , John 17:5 , Matthew 16:27 , Matthew 25:31 , Matthew 24:30 , 2 Corinthians 4:4 , and others. 3- No praise is to be given to images. Christians today have statues of Christ, especially amongst Catholics, that they bow down to praise and glorify him. It is idol worship.
Isaiah 43:10 “"You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.”
God chose him, and reaffirms that there is none after him. Jesus was created after, therefore he can’t be God.
Isaiah 45:20-22 “Gather together and come; assemble, you fugitives from the nations. Ignorant are those who carry about idols of wood, who pray to gods that cannot save. Declare and set forth your case; Indeed, let them consult together. Who has announced this from of old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, A righteous God and a Savior; There is none except Me. “Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other.”
No one can save anyone except God, because God says that he is the savior, and only God, and that there are none except him.
John 17:21 “that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
If Jesus is in God, and God is in Jesus, and says that everyone can be IN God, does that make everyone else part of God to? This shows that he did not mean that they are the same substance, nor even have the same glory or powers.
1 John 4:12 “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”
If Jesus is God, then people saw him, and therefore have seen God.
Matthew 12:50 “For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
This means that Jesus, and others, are sons and daughters of God if they are obedient. He also says God is his father, meaning his creator. Does God create himself? If God is in everyone as we see in John 17:21 , then does that also make everyone God?
Interestingly, in Hinduism (Sanatan), it is stated that God is ‘one’, and takes many forms as avatars to accomplish what God wants, and that those avatars can be born to each other, marry each other, have children with each other, and lived like humans do. Now, the question is….What makes the Christian concept of the Trinity any different? Christians avidly reject Hinduism declaring it a polytheistic faith, yet the teachings of Christianity are exactly the same!
Qur’an 5:72 “They have certainly disbelieved who say,"Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.”
The Jews believed that the Messiah would be a man, which is in agreement with Islam. However, the Christians believed that Messiah meant that he would be divine, hence making Jesus the Messiah. Islam teaches that Jesus is the Messiah, but rejects that Jesus is divine, and not son of God, nor God himself. In this verse, Allah is rebuking those that make Jesus to be God, and tells of Jesus’ teachings for mankind to worship Allah, who was the Lord of Jesus, and their Lord.
Qur’an 5:76 “Say, "Do you worship besides Allah that which holds for you no [power of] harm or benefit while it is Allah who is the Hearing, the Knowing?"
Anything that is worshipped other than Allah is of no use, and does not benefit you. Allah is the only one that is all-hearing, and all-knowing.
Qur’an 5:116 “And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.”
On Judgment Day, Allah will have Jesus testify about what he taught mankind, and Jesus will tell them that he never told anyone to worship him or his mother. He admits that he does not know all, and that only Allah knows all.
Qur’an 6:106 “Follow, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you from your Lord - there is no deity except Him - and turn away from those who associate others with Allah.”
Allah tells Muhammad that there is no God but Allah, and not associate with those that worship anyone or anything else. Muhammad was to follow the message Allah gave him, just like Jesus and other messengers.
Qur’an 9:30-31 “The Jews say, "Ezra is the son of Allah"; and the Christians say, "The Messiah is the son of Allah." That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded? They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah, and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him.”
Allah explains how Jews said God had a son named Ezra. (Some of the Jews claimed this, but not all of them). The Christians claimed Jesus was his son, and the Christians went to the extent to claim Jesus was God. He explains that they are only following the teachings of people, and not God, because God told them to only worship HIM.
Qur’an 25:3 “But they have taken besides Him gods which create nothing, while they are created, and possess not for themselves any harm or benefit and possess not [power to cause] death or life or resurrection.”
Allah rebukes those that worship others (creation), who are not able to create anything. Jesus was creation, yet by miraculous way, but still created, and should not be worshipped, because he is part of creation.
Qur’an 29:17 “You only worship, besides Allah, idols, and you produce a falsehood. Indeed, those you worship besides Allah do not possess for you [the power of] provision. So seek from Allah provision and worship Him and be grateful to Him. To Him you will be returned."
Allah rebukes those that pray to and worship others, telling them that it is all in vain, because only Allah can do what they are asking for. Jesus prayed to God, so why should anyone pray to Jesus?
Qur’an 112:1-4 “Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him.”
Allah states he is the only God, always existing – eternal, is not born, nor does he have children, and nothing is comparable to him.
The testimony of faith (called Shahada) that every Muslim believes and recites daily, makes it clear that there are no other Gods that even exist - only Allah
“La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasoolu Allah.”
These Arabic words are translated as, “There is no god but God (Allah), and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.”
We state that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), is the messenger to ensure that no one elevates him to the status of divinity like the Christians did to the messenger Jesus (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
