Is Jesus God? Part 29: "Being alive in heaven doesn’t make one God"

Return to the previous - Part 28: "Jesus lived because of God'"

Many believe that no one can enter heaven in this life without dying, as an argument for the fact that Jesus has to be God.  However, this is not true.  Jesus isn’t the only one that went to heaven alive according to the Bible.  In the beginning Adam and Eve were both in heaven, and Christians claim that because of their sin they were cast down to Earth.  If sin is the deciding factor, then we have to question if Enoch and Elijah both were sinless like Jesus. Their time in heaven was even before Jesus came to absolve people of their sins.

Genesis 5:24 “Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.”

Enoch is described as a man who "walked with God for 300 years".

Hebrews 11:5 “By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.”

Enoch was clearly raised to heaven, ALIVE, not after death, and spent 300 years with God according to Genesis 5:24 .

2 Kings 2:11 “As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.”

Elijah went up to heaven without dying.

According to the Bible, Enoch and Elijah are the only two people God took to heaven without them dying (and Adam and Eve if you want to consider them in this scenario).

In Islam, we believe that along with these prophets, Muhammad pbuh was also taken up to highest heaven, alive, having not died, faced God, and was given the command to do 5 daily prayers.  He then returned back to Earth to finish delivering the message of God.  You can continue to read about this night journey to heaven here.
