Return to the previous - Part 20: "Jesus was lower than angels & strengthen by them"
John 7:16-17 “So Jesus answered them and said, “My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me. “If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.”
If Jesus is God, then it would be his own teaching, but he says it isn’t his teaching, but only God’s.
John 7:28 “Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him.”
Jesus is stating he is there because God sent him, and not by his own authority. If he is God, then it would be his own authority. He also states that they do not know God, but he does, so if he is God, then they know God.
John 8:28 “So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.”
We see two things here, 1- he was son of MAN, 2- he does nothing of his own will, and only says what God has taught him. Does God need another God to teach him? Is Jesus incapable of doing anything on his own if he is God?
John 14:10 “Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.”
Here Jesus states he is not speaking from himself, that he is speaking on behalf of God, and that God works ‘through’ him. If Jesus is God, then he would be speaking of his own authority, and wouldn’t bother to say such things.
John 14:24 “Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.”
Jesus says his words are not from himself, but from God. If he was God, then they would be his own words. He is clearly distinguishing himself from God.
John 15:10 “If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love.”
Jesus is saying that he is only relaying God’s commands, that God commanded him to command the people, and that God’s love is separate from his love. Does God love himself?
Matthew 19:16-21 “And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” Then he said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER; YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY; YOU SHALL NOT STEAL; YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS; HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER; and YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?” Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
Jesus as asked how to get eternal life, and he never said to “worship me”. He stated to follow the commandments, and to “follow” him. Mankind follows prophets of God, but worship God.
Revelations 1:1 “The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John”
Does God need to ‘give revelation’ to himself? This demonstrates that Jesus couldn’t be God, because God is all-knowing, and Jesus was not.
Qur’an 2:87 “And We did certainly give Moses the Torah and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit. But is it [not] that every time a messenger came to you, [O Children of Israel], with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another party you killed.”
Allah gave Mary a miracle, a son (of mankind), to be a messenger and prophet of God, that he gave his message to, for him to share it with the Children of Israel.
Qur’an 2:253 “Those messengers - some of them We caused to exceed others. Among them were those to whom Allah spoke, and He raised some of them in degree. And We gave Jesus, the Son of Mary, clear proofs, and We supported him with the Pure Spirit. If Allah had willed, those [generations] succeeding them would not have fought each other after the clear proofs had come to them. But they differed, and some of them believed and some of them disbelieved. And if Allah had willed, they would not have fought each other, but Allah does what He intends.”
Allah sent messengers that he spoke to, a message and miracles and signs to share with others. All messengers are also prophets.
Qur’an 4:171 “O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity": desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.”
Allah is not having a trinity, as he does not need help. Jesus was a messenger (given the word of God) and prophet. Allah is one without partners, nor does he have a son. He can manage things by himself.
Qur’an 5:46 “And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous.”
Jesus was SENT as a messenger and prophet, teaching the same message as the prophets and messengers before him.
Qur’an 5:75 “The Messiah, son of Mary, was not but a messenger; [other] messengers have passed on before him. And his mother was a supporter of truth. They both used to eat food. Look how We make clear to them the signs; then look how they are deluded.”
Jesus is the Messiah ((anointed one (blessed and chosen by God), which does not = God)), was only a messenger like others before him. Allah states Jesus ate food because God does not need food, to differentiate the idea that Jesus is part of a trinity as God.
Qur’an 5:116 “And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.”
On Judgment Day, Allah will have Jesus testify about what he taught mankind, and Jesus will tell them that he never told anyone to worship him or his mother. He admits that he does not know all, and that only Allah knows all.
Qur’an 6:106 “Follow, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you from your Lord - there is no deity except Him - and turn away from those who associate others with Allah.”
Allah tells Muhammad that there is no God but Allah, and not associate with those that worship anyone or anything else. Muhammad was to follow the message Allah gave him, just like Jesus and other messengers.
Qur’an 19:29-30 “So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?" [Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.”
Allah (God) has told us that Jesus was indeed a servant of God, a messenger and prophet.
Qur’an 43:57-59 “And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud. And they said, "Are our gods better, or is he?" They did not present the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute. Jesus was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.”
Allah is stating that Jesus was a servant that he anointed (chosen and blessed).
Qur’an 43:63 “And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allah and obey me.”
Allah tells of when Jesus brought his proofs, which Jesus told the people he was given the word of God, and to fear God, and obey him, because he was commanding what was given to him by God. He did as God commanded him to do.
Qur’an 57:27 “Then We sent following their footsteps Our messengers and followed [them] with Jesus, the son of Mary, and gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy and monasticism, which they innovated; We did not prescribe it for them except [that they did so] seeking the approval of Allah. But they did not observe it with due observance. So We gave the ones who believed among them their reward, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.”
Allah states that he gave Jesus a message from him, but those followers of Jesus innovated things that were not from Allah.
